99.86% of this solar system is a giant power plant that you plug into through DC! All solar panels, batteries, everything that runs on batteries, electronics, electric cars, everything in your car, proper LED lights, etc are naturally DC!
The only reason for AC is long-distance power transmission, to make it centralized so that the government could cut it off at any time.

There was a fork in the road early on:
The AC Way: a more centralized approach to electricity, with few huge power stations far away. This encourages a so-called "natural monopoly", and thus government ownership / regulation.
The DC Way: a more decentralized approach to electricity, with more smaller power stations. This encourages more private and local control, with more investment in small-scale technologies, and possibly even safe small nuclear batteries. Most forms of clean energy are variable (ex wind, sea waves, etc), and must thus involve batteries, and are thus DC.
All local and national governments were clearly biased towards AC. And that's why, due to 100+ years of subsidy, it evolved to be "much more economical".
AC power generation also encouraged government subsidy of coal and other hydrocarbons, including pollution liability limitations, the results of which are the root of everything the environmentalists are whining about today.
Yes, I can see how that appears to have worked (intentionally or otherwise) but nothing will change until someone pops a household nuclear reactor onto the market... and governments allow them to be used.
Necessity is the mother of invention. Government subsidy and regulation are thus destroyers of innovation. We can only guess what 100+ years of free market innovation for small-scale energy production would have brought...
But the point I'm making doesn't depend on atomic batteries. Solar alone would have sufficed to make DC king. The sun is everywhere!
Wind power also - remember the joke that Trump kept making about "honey, we can't watch TV, the wind isn't blowing"? It was funny, but the obvious solution to that is batteries, and if you have batteries in your home / neighborhood then using AC would be retarded.
