Should we park on the outskirts and take a subway in? Any tips from someone who knows their way around DC would be helpful, will check back on this post later...
Reserve a spot with a parking app such as ParkingWiz. You select, reserve, and pay for your spot in advance. It is the only way to park in DC. Better do it soon before all the spaces are gone !!!!
If the Metro is running, that is a decent way to go. It can get busy at certain times of day. You'd be on the outskirts and take it to the National Mall. They may shut it down to certain locations, but I'd be surprised they totally shut it down because people in Washington do use it to get to work.
Yes, I would say park at Pentagon City Mall and take the Yellow/Blue Lines in from there. I can give you more info as time approaches, depending on where and when people are gathering ( I think near the Capitol). Drop me a PM if you wnt, I am a lifelong DC local living in NOVA
I'd pick some other shopping center than Pentagon City considering crime has gone up there in the past year with people going back to their cars being robbed at gunpoint. It's a popular target for those thug teens who come in from DC and Maryland.
To be clear, since we aren't staying in DC we plan on arriving early and leaving as well. I think parking near a shopping center/subway entrance is solid idea, I juat literally don't know which ones are best.
Get a printed map.. cell towers will be overloaded.. carry a pocket one.. you will have to walk.. like miles.. we had to walk 2 miles just to get to TRUMP'S inauguration and we were dropped off. uber if you can.. then you can jump out anytime.

MARC train goes from Richmond into dc too. Probably better to have a car in case shit gets shut down.
Right... being packed in like sardines .. not how I would be.. better to walk
Last time it was all Trump supporters scaring the shit out of the local faggots.
People go there to work. Doubt that will happen.
This. Been to DC once. You will be walking ALOT
Outskirts on MD side are absolute shit. Don’t park in or walk through Suitland or Capital Heights which are both east of SC. Bad news.

Far enough away that the car will not be vandalized but close enough to GTFO if it breaks bad.

That sounds like a good idea. How late does the metro run back?
I know, I felt stupid after asking and figured it out 😂 thanks for the tip though.
Yes don't park near Capitol Hill
