By allowing a political class to form, we have created convenient points for special interests or foreign governments to bribe or blackmail our leaders.
The same is true, to a lesser extent, with large business entities. Companies that are 'too big to fail' and enormous media companies that funnel the viewpoint of a tiny number of media oligarchs as propaganda are both sources of corruption and misinformation.
In conjunction with that, we need to eliminate all these Deputy Assistant Director hoo-haa positions at all these Chinese owned government agencies. We can have a revolving door of politicians all we want, the problem is the unelected bureaucrats keep there jobs in perpetuity and serve as the only continuity of government. Pretty dangerous when you consider that they answer to pretty much no one but eachother and China.
I made a post on a number of reforms for major public office that would put them back into a servant class rather than thier current position as masters.
We all see this now, it is up to us, and that needs to scare the hell out of them. We aren't backing down, no matter who gets in, either way, we get the Swamp out, it's our job to drain it, and that includes media and big tech.
Could not agree with you more!
It should be voluntary. only pay for travel, house them in a dorm while in session, and per diem for food to be bought at a local grocery, and prepared in their own time. You can't cook, you starve or give up your seat.
I do not mind paying a solid salary to a man or woman who decided to take a couple years out of their life to serve their state or country.
Take the money out of the system, you find out who really cares about our country. Just my opinion, but if they wanna make more than the average middle class household, do odd jobs in their off time. 160,000 bucks is no where near an average American income for one earner. Try between 50,000 to 60,000. I wouldn't pay a dime more for a civil servant. If you aren't there because you care about the people and the sovereignty of the nation you serve, gtfo. Again, just my opinion. Term limits, minimal salary, if you're not an ambassador, no foreign trips unless you're getting the bill. If you're not an ambassador, no state business with foreign nations. After your term is up, upward movement only. You don't move up, your public career is over. Lobbying, all monies changing hands is public knowledge. You fail at this, 10 years in prison. No gifts for legislators. 5 year limit on lobbying. You're done, go home, get a real job. That's my take.
I like pretty much everything you said, but you need to remember that the cost of living in DC is absurd compared to most places.

Wanna know how to bring down the "cost of living" in a given location. Fucking dorm rooms for senators and congressmen.
Term limit on deep state positions. People like Barr have been around for decades. Brennon is another. Not enough characters to list them all
