Not a fan of endless war , but Islam (much like socialism) is the enemy of liberty. They will not stop fighting until the infidel is dead and the Jews and Christians pay the Jizya if allowed to live.
Im willing to bet really good money that the average Afghan just wants to herd goats and get clean drinking water and not have their son OD on heroin. This fear mongering about Islam itself as some global existential threat is a giant meme in order to support forever wars I think.
