There's an article floating around somewhere proving that 'Festivus' (the semi-fictional holiday celebrated by Frank Costanza on Seinfeld) is actually older than Kwanzaa.
And yet there is a similarity between the two. The most cherished tradition associated with both holidays is the ritual Airing of Grievances. The Airing begins with the proclamation: "I gotta lot o' problems with you people!" With Festivus the litany of grudges is generally confined to family members. With Kwanzaa it is directed against all white people who ever lived anywhere on earth, but especially in America. It culminates in a devout prayer for their extermination.
As for the Muhammad of Kwanzaa, the Prophet Maulana Karenga, he was a Visionary (aka paranoid-schizophrenic), a Martyr and Political Prisoner (i.e., served time for kidnapping and sexual assault), as well as a strict but fair Disciplinarian (i.e., tortured women with soldering irons).

Makes way more sense than Kwanzaa, too.
And many more people have celebrated Festivus
Its multi racial as well.
Airing of grievances is something all humans can relate to.
And it has distinguishable traditions

Oh, yes, he is also a Scholar and Sage honored for his achievements with a professorship at a California university.
I like how you wrote that last paragraph as though it were an unexpected outcome given everything that preceded it.
