Even if you kept your job or didn't need to have one, you got hurt by government.
"Leaders" who didn't know any better, made it up as they went along and changed the rules every week. There are no signs that this is going to change in the near future.
There were a few shining stars here that didn't lock down their states, but these were offset by NY, MA and CA where the government caused people to die. A recent news story suggests the US Covid numbers are different if you take California out of them, but even a state like NY would have different numbers if you removed NYC.
If a company behaved like some state governments, causing this much damage, they'd have been sued in court and lost. In this case, since they government caused the damage, they should pay, the problem in the end, is we're paying ourselves back or forward out of our own taxes.
I like your idea. I opened a biz in January, in Louisiana. Never had a chance. Burned $30k, my entire life savings, trying to hold on until the curve was flattened, and shit when back to normal. I'd love to be reimbursed for even HALF of that. Especially since Jan Feb Mar went PERFECTLY according to plan, everything looked great.
I would literally be consumed with rage 24/7 if this happened to me!! I have taken a finance/career hit but nothing this outrageous. Someone needs to fucking pay for what is being done to small business owners.
And ONLY $2000! Rest of the world can GET FUKT!!!
While I would be very happy with this too, I dont think it accomplishes the endstate of a stimulus if a lot of people have no income to pay taxes on
They damaged all citizens and other residents.

Donate it to a local business or businesses that are struggling. Positive that it would help them if it doesn't help you out.

Thank God I didn't take out a loan.

You can donate the money to others you feel were harmed. 4 struggling waitresses receiving 500 each would be very grateful.
That's pretty much my sentiments. One part of me says this is just gov't. cheese, but then I'd rather give Americans the cheese than anybody else.
And my new bands name is syskill
