Like making latte at starbucks by ordering a shot or two of expresso and requesting it in a tall cup and filling it with free milk and turning a mcdouble (used to be $1) into a big mac sans middle bun by asking for special sauce and shredded lettuce.
Personally I don't do it but I'm not gonna judge, you do what you gotta do, better to be a miser than a spendthrift even if they share the same circle of hell.
They can fit more food into a bowl, so if you get a "burrito" but tortilla on the side then you technically get more food. And it used to be for no upcharge.
