What this news story doesn't say, is that the people threatened the city council with a lawsuit, and followed that up by threatening to drag the city councilors out into the street and shoot them all dead if they lost the lawsuit. That was what got them to relent.
What that story doesn't tell you, is that people actually gathered and rallied, waiting for the cops to show up. They were armed and ready to fight. The state backed down.
More recently, in my own state, a bunch of armed guys ran off L&I assholes trying to enforce fines on restaurants for staying open, and some of them followed one of those L&I guys back to his house, and told him he was a dead man if they ever saw him in that city again.
Those are just a few examples of the regular armed rebellions against government tyranny that have happened in recent history. Don't be afraid of your public servants; remind them who serves whom.
