Can I ask a question as a British person not clued up with the laws. What is the plan for the 28 congressional officials. Can they protest the vote? Will it ultimately go ahead without these 28 people??

Good analysis.

If there is no major development between now and then, I expect some in Congress to pretend like they took it seriously "for the folks back home" and harumph a lot, then cave and go home.

That being said, I'm not a doomer. I called my congressman less than an hour ago and talked to an aid in hid DC office. She said he had not told them anything specific about the 6th, but she did remind me that he signed onto the Texas amicus brief. I told her to let him now I would be there, standing outside to watch and I expect him to contest the fraudulent states. When I hung up I also wrote him an email through his webform saying in more detail that if the Republicans cave to the Democrats it will be the end of the party and that if HE caves I will do everything in my power to make sure he never gets elected to anything ever again.

I will be there to witness what happens, and I will act accordingly to what they do.
