I know it's cheap, I know sometimes it's hard to find an alternative. But if at all possible look for those great words: MADE IN USA
Tell your family to look at labels. If you can't find a MADE IN USA alternative, at least buy the one from our allies and NOT from the opposing side of an active war.
Would you buy Made In Germany in 1943?
I have one even better for ya: Drop China direct drop-shippers like Amazon and Chinese warehouses like Walmart entirely. Wherever possible, try to find family, friends and local producers, especially for food. You may not be aware of this, but even some of our nation's MEAT is coming from China. Look at the inventory at Kroger, for example: a US-based grocery franchise with nearly 140 years of history. All of their frozen fish is labelled from China! Their "fresh" fish in the display case is from frozen, too, and where do you figure it's coming from??? There are many other foods coming from China.
Find people with family recipes who are willing to can and sell their food to you on a monthly/weekly subscription. Use farmer's markets. Try to find local everything. Locally-made hardwood furniture is absolutely worth the increased cost. There are many other examples. Even electronic components can be sourced outside of China, if we're willing to pay and willing to try.
