I'll bet you money that if you look back into late 2019 and early 2020 that they in fact saved a bunch of dead people from then and stacked them into the Week 12 through 20 to spike the numbers.
Whilst there have been a lot of shennanigans going on with regards to the reporting of deaths in the UK, I think that would be fairly difficult to pull off in practice.
Not saying not possible, just don't think it's that likely to be enough to represent that huge spike.
