Thats not a poll pad in the picture. There are 2 different devices. Poll pad is an ipad.

You are correct, but both are connected. From poll-worker testimony about Dominion remote support on 12/9, I believe:

She added that this method of remote tech support was used to fix both the team’s poll pads and ballot-marking devices.

“We also had with our ballot-marking devices at the same time because of whatever was going wrong, and we could not encode the cards. They fixed those machines, the ballot-marking devices, at the same time. … They operated remotely on both the ballot-marking device and on the poll pads,” she said.

Remember that software should not be updated during an election, which now begins weeks before "election day". Dominion, of course, lacks proper software version control and proper logging, so who knows what was done to what, and proprietary software so no-one gets to see the source code in any case. Just as you would never design any "secure" system.
