There is a large community of people (myself included) who spend a lot of time driving all over creation to garage sales, estate sales, and thrift stores, buying and cleaning/fixing items to sell on eBay or other marketplaces. The marketplaces take their cut, of course, but most of the money goes to the seller- many of them being Americans like myself trying to make ends meet.
