I never slow cook with anything that has water. I start a lot with condensed soups. I have so many different recipes that i have never written down that's just slowcooking meats with condensed soups and veggie & herb mixes.

I do about your method. I often vac seal or fridge some for food prep if I'm workin 12's or longer.
For beef I go full sear, but almost everyone's slow cooker recipe comes out okay to amazing!
