Progressive vs conservative was supposed to be the dynamic duo that continued to propel the world. New ways of thinking and forward progress, thus progressiveness, and a conservation of tradition and traditional values from conservativeness. Just like our government was supposed to be, these two ideologies were supposed to be checks and balances to each other. It's a fault of some malicious actors that tainted the way our world thinks collectively, and it changed in tangible ways. Conservatives are now some amalgamation of traditional progressives and traditional conservatives that meets somewhere in the middle.
