Computers have a hard time interpreting images. Google bots use image alt tags to figure out what’s in an image. Most of these pictures probably use the alt tag African American with blonde hair.
I don’t know much about yandex search since most of my work revolves around analyzing and optimizing data for google.
Bots can’t actually see what’s in the image. That’s why websites use captcha images to figure out if a person is human.
When you click on the images and read the meta tags it seems like yandex has a simplistic search function that’s open to manipulation. That’s what allows the spammy Russian image aggregation sites to slip through.
Google has a list of 100+ different ranking factors to determine where things rank. They use titles, headlines, alt tags, keyword density, click thru rate, etc to figure out where things should rank. That works well with popular search terms but there’s not enough data for long tale keywords like this one.
Well Google do manipulate their searchresults themselves, as was multiple times discovered already and they even "admitted" doing it. So it's not "better"
I’m not arguing that google is “better” from an ethical standpoint. Google does lots of shady shit but they have the most advanced search aggregator from a technical standpoint. Every result is catered to the individual user based on location, bounce rate, click through rate, time on page, and past search history.
It’s scary to think about how much google knows about you. They know everywhere you go (geolocation), where you spend money, and people you associate with. All of that info is sold to advertisers and anybody else that’s willing to pay

Why does yandex such different results then? https://yandex.com/images/search?from=tabbar&text=blonde%20hair%20americans
