I'm a born and bred Long Islander, just like our President. I LOVE "The City," as we called it, since to our minds there is only one place in the world worthy of that title. I wish I could go there right now. But I can't.
Because The City is already dead and gone. What it was when I loved it has been bled out of it by communist mayors. Rudy Giuliani's New York is what I knew and loved, still with its problems but on the right track toward fixing them, with a Patriot at the helm.
Whatever is left, festering in The City's corpse? Burn it to the ground. It's not The City anymore. Just a ghastly revenant, shambling in shrunken, dessicated skins that are not its own.
