How so? What if china detonates an EMP? Have fun with your digital currency. Everyone should have a safe with cash inside. Cash has been around since humans began trading. Cash/coins will never go away. Why people even have their money in banks after this past summer is beyond me.

Then the blockchain would pause and no new blocks would happen until networks came back online?

GUESS WHAT, thats what would happen in the real world too!

The moment this country gets the lights shit out, even if only for 30 seconds, we are fucked. Everything depends on some sort of electricity. Banks, security systems, oxygen machines at hospitals, red lights, refrigerators. Everything. If all the electronics are fried, the damage done by being in a nation wide blackout for 30 seconds is staggering. We wouldn't recover. Our communications would be knocked out, we would be living in the 19th century again.

That would take a lot more than a 30 second outage.

this isn't true. maybe you could make the argument of electricity went out globally and simultaneously. but all of our info is "sandboxed"

Totally agree with ya there, my point was if that happens you are no worse off with crypto or cash. Cash will be useless because banks will not be working and therefore you cant really spend your cash outside of local bartering.

Which you can locally barter bitcoin too. If you use a paper wallet. Then it's basically physical money.

Paper ballots are better.

Paper money is better.
