Greetings from Ukraine, pedes!
Could the mods sticky this for a bit?
In Kyiv, in February 2014, 1 MILLION people went on the streets. Later, a stable camp was organized in the Independence Square. Look up Ukraine's Revolution of Dignity or Maidan. Maidan (pronounced MY-DUNN) was an informal name of Independence Square where the prettiest was held.
Triggering event? Students were savagely beaten by police for protesting President Yanukovych. Yanukovych was a convicted felon who was basically fleecing the country. Example: Yanukovych's son could have his minions come to your successful small business and force you to give him 50% of your profits, mafia style. Or conduct a forced sale of your company to him on the cheap.
I'd like to humbly offer a couple of lessons and ideas from the Revolution of Dignity for you.
SPIRIT
Maintaining fighting spirit was the most important. Every hour on the hour the speakers on the stage would stop and everybody as one would sing the national anthem. There was a sea of flags. A fishing pole is excellent to mount a flag on. It's compact, lightweight, and flexible.
There were speeches about political topics and history from the stage interspersed with songs, poems or other performances by either well-known artists or by people from the audience. I'm sure there are pedes who can sing patriotic songs and play the guitar or harmonica, right? There are old songs and poems from the War of Independence, right? Look them up.
LOGISTICS Logistics win the war.
Taxis carried people to Kyiv's central square for free. Impromptu carpooling was organized via Twitter with a hashtag. Citizens would drop off supplies for the protesters which was organized via Twitter.
Learn from the enemy. Look up protest guidance from Antifa on Twitter/web for ideas.
COLD. People were camping in temps up to -20C. Most of the heat loss is through head and neck. Consider having a cold, warm hat and a scarf will gloves.
Also, to warm up, people would be guided by the MC from the stage to jump in place for a couple of minutes about once an hour. They would chant something like "If you're a patriot, jump up jump up, jump around".
There was a volunteer medical center with nurses and doctors to treat colds, frostbite, etc. Consider at least a first aid kit and look up first aid.
They were in the open for long periods of time. People were drinking hot tea with turmeric for cold prevention. There were field kitchens serving hot food. Consider having small field stoves /propane burners for this purpose for yourself. Or solid fuel tablets from camping stores.
If you stand in the cold without movement for long periods of time, you will lose heat through the soles of your feet. Air insulates you from cold. Consider a piece of rubber foam (like from a yoga mat) to stand on to prevent that. Or,, 2-3 layers of cardboard from a packaging box will give you some insulation. Consider having several pairs of warm wool socks. Have soars to change. Cold wet feet will put you out of commission very quickly
There was a medical center with medics and doctors to treat colds, frostbite, etc. Consider at least a first aid kit and look up first aid. Decongestant, Advil/Tylenol, handkerchiefs/paper tissues.
TOILETS Very serious and important. Some businessman donated and maintained a bunch of porta-potties in the Independence Square. Think about a bucket with a lid for yourself, at least.
Good luck, God bless America and MAGA!
This is excellent. Thanks OP!
