Throughout history I have seen raised fists and I believe it was revolutionary communists who used it. Anybody know the origins?

It's a Commie Symbol

Communists first and, perhaps more germane, the original Black Panthers.

Original black panthers = communists.

Looks like it started as earlier as 1848...in the U.S. WW1.

Cool thanks. I saw an article about the woke Brit government shooting fist fireworks off and wondered where it originated. Looks like it’s been appropriated throughout history. I know the black panthers used it as well as a black power symbol. I tend to think the latest use aligns more with black power and the Panthers’ intent on overthrow and thuggery.

I think the Nazis used it though that’s where I remember seeing it in the war propaganda

I didn’t read it all I just skimmed it. I knew it as a commie symbol, but it doesn’t surprise me big tech is changing the symbol. I answered the question about the origin...the point or place something begins, not the meaning behind it.

Originated in France 1848 as a raised fist. Depending on your nationality the color was then determined for what cause you were fighting against. It is a show of strength and power.

Yes I also read that the left fist is used and was used for a feminist movement.
