Natural born citizen simply means that you were a citizen from birth (ie. did not have to acquire it post-birth some way).

It derives from ‘Natural born subject’ in English common law, which meant anyone born owing allegiance to the King or Queen, which included anyone born within their controlled territory even to ‘alien’ parents (apart from the exceptions for foreign diplomats, invading soldiers etc. who exist outside of the subject/monarch relationship).
