for all the idiots and shills that ctrl+f for "masks", find none, and then come here to say BOONK

Conclusions. The majority of deaths in the 1918–1919 influenza pandemic likely resulted directly from secondary bacterial pneumonia caused by common upper respiratory-tract bacteria

jesus chist, I wonder how secondary bacteria; infections in the upper respiratory tract occur and what possible reason for an uptick in that during a viral pandemic.

Normal seasonal colds and flu's maybe?

In 2008 Dr. FauXi published a paper saying masks caused bacterial pneumonia

colds and flus are viruses my man

this paper says people died of bacterial infections

how did the bacteria get trapped in your throat, how did it not get expelled, and why was a period of a virus spread coincide with bacterial growth

It doesn't specifically state that the bacterial infections are caused by masks - obviously we can infer that, but do we know that masks were widely used in 1918? If someone could post a link to a report on this, I would appreciate it.

Of course they were widely used. Have you not seen the photos of baseball games and everyone is wearing them? There is mountains of photo evidence showing masks were widespread back then during their pandemic

I already got bacterial tonsillitis twice from wearing the masks, and I put on a new disposable one every time. I'm done wearing them .

“ Certain observers believed that cotransmission of the influenza agent and of pneumopathogenic bacteria was responsible for many severe and fatal cases, especially during the October-November 1918 peak of mortality and case-fatality rates“

Pneumopathogenic bacteria is built up in the nasopharynx which is the area in the upper throat behind the nose. Bacteria would build up there because of lack of oxygen going into the nose and mouth. That quote is saying not just the influenza agent killed but this pneumopathogenic bacteria contributed to many severe and fatal cases.
