In a country with a free press, we would also know that our entire country is controlled by the deep state and corporations, and our government is not a direct reflection of the people's will.

Enough of us know. At bare minimum, tens of millions. In the American Revolution, it was not the case that all Americans were on board. A lot backed the King, many were busy (muh work muh family). Ever seen The Patriot? Mel Gibson's character requires one of his children being shot and killed point blank in front of his face before he moves his ass to help. All that is to say... Most humans are followers. There are more than enough Americans who see the truth that could gather and lead those unengaged, indifferent, and maybe even brainwashed. None of this is easy, or safe, it just requires some initial courage and organization. We seem to have the perfect vehicle here...

Because when massive corporations like twitler and facebook are essentially the 'public square' and benefit from the protections of section 230, but then act like a publisher and blatently censor political speech, meddle in elections, and 'fact check' with Soros owned companies to push their bias and lies, that becomes a problem for freedom in general.

We are making something better, and it involves removing those protections for those types of entities. If they want to abuse their power and behave like a tyrant and a publisher, then they can get sued out of existence.

Ugh. Head in sand!

Yeah you’re free to start a paper; just compete with these billionaires!

The next step is to go full socialist, like we do here in Canada: Yeah you’re free to start a paper; just compete with us funding our own paper with your tax dollars!

Shortly later the China model: Yeah you’re free to start a paper; just don’t be surprised if you get organ harvested in a totally unrelated incident!

There is clearly broad collusion between major media outlets to misrepresent, suppress and censor legitimate legal and political information. Combine this with de-platforming of alternate media and it's clear to any thinking person that a free and independent press barely exists in the current environment.

If you don't think the media and the Democrat party are colluding together on what the daily narrative/censorship is, I've got some swamp land to sell you.

When Google bans entire news agencies from youtube, and google censors basic web search results unless they are aligned with their political view, and twitter bans newspapers for publishing factual data that they don't agree with, that is NOT freedom of the press.
