I think many are suspicious of the push for vaccines in lieu of therapeutics or a focus on prevention by way of bolstering natural immune response. The production of these vaccines at warp speed is an amazing accomplishment made possible by GEOTUS and the hard work of people like you. However, I do think it is unrealistic to expect that people will blindly accept a vaccine for a virus that has been so over blown and so politicized in its effect and reach. Add to that the threat of mandatory vaccination and many people will balk. People who have been blatantly lied to for almost a year now, at the expensive their lives and livelihood, are not crazy to be skeptical. Skepticism is, I think, the appropriate response.
To be honest, people are nervous (but brave) and no-one is blindly accepting it where we're at. We are monitoring EVERYTHING and everyone really carefully and I mean there are groups and layers of checks from home nurses to GPs to researchers to professors, the university, the health agencies that we answer to, the NHS, and the gov. But we can't just do nothing either, vitamins aren't enough at times, we need medications (like antibiotics and antivirals). The entire world is watching right now, there's little room for error.
I can't speak for the US as I'm in the UK atm, but my gp is giving vitamin D, zinc and other supplements and trying to keep the immune system primed. I'm on some prescription strength vitamins right now courtesy of her, which cannot be found over the counter. That Vitamin D is necessary as a fighting agent against COVID is well known here, and all the GPs are on board.
