First, DNA doesnt "break off" to make mRNA. The DNA is transcribed (copied) to make mRNA, and nothing changes to your DNA. That's a natural process.
The inserted mRNA via a vaccine cannot interact with your DNA. It literally cannot bind to it, break it, or interact with it. It is just mRNA that mimics a transcribed DNA sequence. All it does is float around until amino acids bind to it to create a protein.
Your DNA still codes for everything it normally does in your cells. It doesn't change.

I had also heard Pfizer and moderna were about to abandon the tech until covid happened because the side effect profile was considered too unpalatable. Obviously the lack of trials and long term data are concerning too.
