Yes. These things MATTER. If you have no cohesion, people are confused. If you have no training, you're as likely to shoot the guy next to you as you are an enemy. You don't know how people act under extreme pressure like being fired upon. Most will freeze/lock up or flee. Very -VERY- few will stand their ground and even then, standing your ground isn't all that smart in all instances. In the military, you are taught - DAY ONE - that you need develop bonds with your platoon/squad/battle buddy. You need to be able to damn near read their fucking minds and you need to be able to trust them with upmost certainty, that they will protect you as you protect them. Because that's all that's between you and a shallow grave.
