Mind you, we’re no better off here in Australia or you in the US. The point of the TV licence is to fund the BBC, it’s essentially just a tax. We pay taxes to fund public broadcasting and so do you. Complete bullshit, all needs to be defunded like YESTERDAY.
The irony is though, that the UK could likely avoid all the bad press of it by just doing like Australia and taking the funding out of general revenue... yet for some reason they don't want to do that??
I actually understand it completely. Did extensive research on the subject for a project. Also the propaganda you just spewed is exactly what they want you to think. It doesn't need to be enforced like this, if someone doesn't pay the tax, oh well you're still getting a ton of money to fund a network dedicated to the destruction of western civilization as we know it.

We despise it but no government has had the balls to abolish it.
It gets worse. Go to youtube and watch these people try and often succeed in bullying into peoples homes to check their tvs and make sure they're not receiving broadcasts of any kind. I did a major project on this and for most americans it sounds like a joke when they first hear it. They actually used vans and this propoganda that the vans could detect if you were using a tv. Going back to like the 70s at least. They drove around these vans with all this monitoring equipment and antennaes to scare people into paying the tax.
