Can't really tell ya. I've never seen anything like this - this year, it's all new territory.
Just never trust Mitch. I made the mistake of cutting him slack for the SCOTUS appointments, but he's just the slimiest fuck in the swamp. He had no intentions of giving Trump what he asked for in exchange for signing the pork bill, it was all political kabuki theater, like it's always been.
My advice to you, is to distrust politicians as a breed, and make them prove they're worthy of trust and support. The GOP is in as bad a shape as the DNC - support specific politicians, tell the GOP to go fuck themselves.
Same path as me - refused to vote for Hillary under any circumstances, hated Jeb! and the GOP picks, so I reluctantly voted for Trump as an unknown - at worst he could just do nothing like Arnold when he was Gov of Ca.
It didn't take long to see how fantastic he is. I love, support and respect him utterly now, even though there are things I don't agree with.
