a lot of people say he is a patriot and are calling for his pardon, but I also have seen things suggesting that he is actually a CIA Brennan operative who was purposefully placed in the NSA and he was not actually acting in good faith when he blew the whistle..?

He was never a whistle blower, he in fact went to great lengths to avoid being a whistle blower and/or being caught. He absolutely knew of multiple anonymous and safe routes he could have taken to be a legit whistle blower, he had training on it at the CIA, at the DIA, as a contractor and again when he was insinuated into the NSA. He knew the difference between whistle blowing and espionage, he chose espionage.
Regardless of what people say, he never blew a whistle, he spied and was used as a Tool, I could speculate but if 'we' are correct that kinda stuff is gonna be explained soon enough now so give it a few months.
A person never 'quits' the CIA, just isn't done.
