j/k aside. I come here from voat where things were quite a bit more spicey than TDW. Your friend needs to thicken his skin a little bit and not take things personally.
I read the thread, many of them understood us, some didn’t, some were indifferent. I get why some would be intimidated or don’t understand the culture. We’ve gone through our own shit with Reddit and learned to confront bullshit fairly quickly. We became suspicious of new posters trying to frame us to remove the Reddit community. That suspicion didn’t entirely go away here. Now we deal with psyops from who knows what agencies and other combatants increasingly.
Outsiders who weren’t there for the Reddit days wouldn’t fully understand how the core of the community operates. It was “Us VS Them”. Many of us are also autists from the Chan’s/Voats of the world, which have an even more abrasive culture. “Tits or GTFO”. I think the bottom line is we are the way we are due to the sheer amount of information we process, and what we learned through dealing with Reddit.
We’re highly motivated, we don’t have time for bullshit, we try to process information as it comes in, take what’s real, discard the fake, and get to work on our distribution of information, psyops, and meme-warfare. We fight the enemy differently than they do, if they do at all.
