Please be kind, I'm a very shy ladypede who is terrified of confrontation. This was a big step. My findings are that the impact of the NPC mask is likely minimal, and any effect it might have is completely nullified by having an adorable baby in tow. Comments on mask: 0. Comments on baby: 3.
[Sidebar- I love taking the baby out because he goes maskless with impunity and I think people love him not just because he's cute but because they're happy to just see a FACE. If this were such a deadly pandemic you'd think ONE person would chide me for bringing an infant out into this infected hellscape, but nobody ever has.]
Also worth noting is my "mask" was literally just a gray t-shirt sleeve big enough to fit over my head, with an NPC nose/mouth drawn on in Sharpie. I thought I might take heat for that, but NO, sleeve masks are A-OK.
I think my next attempt will be a mask with words on it, something that might spark conversation like "15 days to slow the spread." Ideas are welcome.
Then I'll try the overtly useless fishnet mask. Maskless venture will be Wal-Mart. I don't plan on buying anything anyway, so getting kicked out is no loss. 😎
Proud of you! Also non-confrontational ladypede. My little protests are wearing the mask under my chin and making someone tell me to fix it, pulling mask down to smile and say thank you to cashiers, and having loud phone conversations in public about covid and cdc stats, as well as Trump and Pedo Joe.
Ooh this is is good. The cashier actually pulled his mask down to make faces at kiddo. I should be doing that constantly...
Adorable baby = perfect excuse. Development depends on seeing your face! It's so important.
I also shamelessly use my little one to distract people from the fact I m not wearing a mask. Haven’t had anybody say anything to me ever. Lots of people stop to talk and smile at baby.
Keep it up! Every little bit helps.
My experience has been that people seem to appreciate seeing a real face again.
Lol was that you I heard today at my IGA grocery store.
Lol! No, but glad to know there are more.
I've been doing a lace mask for months and have never been called out on it. ("Oh, you said FACE mask? I thought you said Lace . . . ") The overtly nonsensical makes more sense than the canned obedience.
HAHAHHA. I LOVE THIS. It's probably more sanitary....
Amazing!! 😂😂
I do this with an open crochet mask !!
They want to see token compliance, we'll give 'em token and keep the change!
Love it!
Hello fellow ladypede! Congratulations on your foray into civil disobedience! I was nervous about confrontation too but I have recently started wearing my mask around my chin while walking around smiling inanely to myself. So far, no one has said anything. I think they just think I'm simple. If they ever do say anything I can just say, "Oh, thanks I didn't notice" and then walk away without doing anything.
Haha, the "might be simple" route! That is bold, walking away and doing nothing. Well done! I think if someone confronted me I'd either mask up and die of shame or blurt "I HAVE A CONDITION AND IT'S A HIPAA VIOLATION TO ASK ABOUT IT"
...and die of shame.
I lived in NYC for a long time. That city does weird things to your brain... I don't think I would have been so cavalier about blowing people off before my time there.
Football jersey fabric in a cool grey camo pattern (breathable holes), havent had any comments yet, considering putting #scamdemic on it. My plan next is to walk in with a mask on each boob (over a shirt, of course)... hubby will wear one over the fly on his pants. Sign didn't say mask had to be on my face, just said wear one.
Kek. Love this!
I congratulate you on your courage. I just quit wearing one altogether in June. You'll reach that point eventually. If someone says you have to wear one just put it on and then take it off immediately after walking away from him/her. If someone gets in your face about it, don't argue with them, just look at them steadily, ala Nick Sandmann, while they rant and then just move off and go about your business.
that's a lot of sharpie. she'd be high as a kite before she got to the carts
Mask writing idea: "OBEY"
When I go massless at stores I smile more than I ever have in my life and people respond like they wish they could to. I can see it in their eyes. I don’t engage beyond that. No person shopping has ever said anything to me negative, only the commies at the front door tell me to put one on and I just ignore them. I don’t want my kids to grow up with a complex so we roll together. Not sure where you are and don’t answer but I’ve not had any shopper confront me. I pack as well which is funny because I have a better chance of someone shooting me than dying from covid. Don’t feel bad that you don’t want confrontation just smile and wave when you see someone without a mask and say hi to a fellow patriot.
I love that non-confrontational lady pedes are comfortable psoting here.
Thank you for recognizing this as a safe place despite the often aggressive nature that it takes to push for Truth and Justice
Honestly, I appreciate a space where it's acknowledged that women are different from men and that it's okay! And I admire the men (and women) who are willing to be more aggressive than I.
Face diaper for us..
When someone in public retail asks you if you have a mask Step 1: Say "Yes." Step 2: Say "It is right here in my pocket." Step 3: Reach into dominant hand pocket. Step 4: Pull out middle finger.
If you stop at some of the rest stops driving cross country they require masks and have actual instructions with illustrations on how to remove the sleeve of a tshirt to use as a mask... 😂😂😂 People have lost their mind.
Only 10% of population knows what it means by NPC.
Yeah, I wanted to roll with the meme but as I was walking around I realized more and more this was not the demographic lol
I am thinking about drawing a mask on my face.
I never wear a mask but I think this is my next act if performance art.
Oooh you could get really creative with some face paint! I like it.
kleenex up nostrils: you can breath fine - double layer even LOL
Cheesecloth mask. Don’t put anything on it. People will know something is “wrong” and have to think about it.
Good for you! Baby steps (pun intended :) We have to resist as much as we can no matter what form it takes. I pray that in time you will go completely maskless. Regardless we are PROUD OF YOU! CONGRATS!!!
PS-I have gotten kicked out three or four places. Its no biggie. Just take a deep breath and expect to get thrown out. Usually (at least in my case) it rarely happens. It gets easier and easier after time. Ignore the big intimidating signs and walk right in. Good luck!
The most controversial mask idea i have had is:
"I have COVID-19. But don't worry, this mask will protect you."
Fellow lady pede Love my American flag mask When I leave the baby girl at home with dad I try going maskless Haven’t been thrown out or arrested yet Maybe cause I got rbf like baaaad
You can wear a mesh stocking like a bank robbery with your baby next time. Has anybody done that?
Honestly, why not? There's something on your face so it should be all good.
If I make it back to the US before the mask thing is over I’m totally going to the store wearing an old school hockey goalie mask
https://i.maga.host/5pBYqhC.png - I went and got this but all the places I shop quit asking for masks (They left the signs up but nobody bothers you about it). Best Buy is the only store I visited recently where they send someone to confront you about masks... I walked right out.
For all of GA's other current political problems, at least we're not under statewide mask mandates and lockdowns like some other states.
Also I really should have gotten something less tryhard like a clown, horse or even My Little Pony full-head mask. Maybe a fencing mask? At least I have a conversation piece now.
Just curious....since you have a baby.... any concern over your sweet little one being surrounded by masked people? It seems so strange to think this could be normal for children today. My youngest is 12 but when I see babies, I’m saddened to think of them seeing only a sea of masks...except for me since I don’t wear one
Covid1984
Although I imagine most people wouldn't understand it, and lefties think Trump is Big Brother.
That’s a big big step for a lady who is both shy and having to worry about her baby. Good job. If you’re married I hope your husband is going to every store maskless, because if the introvert wife is showing him up he’s got some soul searching to do.
The reason these bully tactics work is precisely becuause most people don’t want confrontation.
And then there’s me who will loudly call store employees motherfuckers for screwing with me. See I’m also an introvert and my wife and I and kids are basically hermits that fucking hate being around people. We’ve had a hard time mingling with normies for decades basically. And now, now I’m forced to be the one to lead and show an example for others? It’s mind boggling
There’s war veterans all over the place, yet my ass is fighting the mask nazis? What the fuck. Police? Nope, useless. Tall, fit, buffer guys than me? Nope, those faggots are all masked like the bitches they are. How about the fat, loud, mannerless fucks? Nah, all masked.
It’s just me and a few friends and my wife locally that fight this.
So I applaud your first steps here. Tell your man to go into stores maskless and get in arguments with staff. I’m going to go to a Walmart and carry a sign around telling people to just claim they are exempt.
I think it would be pretty great to wear a mask that is just trim, no fabric in the middle.
I never carry a mask with me. On purpose. I walk in and most generally I just get a stare. I always say hello and wave. Sometimes get a hello back. Today I had to go inside a CVS, made it all the way to the back almost to the pharmacy and a worker popped outta the back touching her mask with her fingers signaling the existence of it and saying you have to wear a mask in here....I said I'm allergic! And kept walking she said oh a medical exemption? I said uh huh! OK and off she went. I giggled and giggled!
I bought an npc mask from Etsy. Can’t wait to wear it
Subversion is good too. Not all of us have tbe means t outright rebel
Ha ha awesome
I made one that says "PLACEBO"
Good for you. I have one that says 15 days to slow the spread and a crochet one that is ridiculous.
