"Infinite Possibilities"
As you may know, memes act as a virus for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices that can be transmitted from one mind to another. I
Now, let's dig a little deeper
Since the beginning of time, Man has used symbolic representations not only to spread ideas and concepts but to initiate religious, spiritual, and ceremonial symbolism as well. Our present-day internet memes are a continuation of the use of magical "sigils" that date back to aboriginal cave drawings.
Medieval sorcerers used sigils in the tradition of Ceremonial Magick in Europe and America and include everything from summoning demons and talking to angels in the Christian tradition, to complex initiation rituals using Egyptian god-forms in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and the New Aeon Magick of Aleister Crowley.
Chaos Magick was formed by a number of magickians who relaxed the rules, stripping Ceremonial Magick down to its core and focusing on experimentation. Their purpose was to create symbolic representations of the magickian's desired outcome and then release it in a form that can act like a replicating virus in the minds of the intended subjects of their spells. Sigils were meant to spread, replicate, and then be forgotten consciously afterward, the same behaviors as memes on social media today.
You see, one of the core tenets of Chaos Magick practice (the only mainstay, really) is the creation of magic sigils (also called glyphs) to “codify and project one’s Will into the Universe.”
Basically, you make an image that represents your “will” (desire fueled by powerful emotions or altered states) and the universe will take care of the rest.
When a lot of people pool their united willpower towards a single sigil, it's called a Hyper-sigil, and it's exponentially more potent.
Pepe/Kek is a hyper-sigil.
So is Grumpy Cat.
Millions of people are transmitting Pepe and Trump sigils every day on Facebook and Instagram whether they know it consciously or not.
And so far, their hyper-sigils seem to be working.
But understand, “magick” probably isn’t what you think it is. It’s not about wand-waving or pentagrams or sacrificing babies.
Magick is actually much less involved than that. As a matter of fact, you’re casting magick right now. You pretty much always are, whether you like it or not.
The REAL magick comes from plain and simply human attention and intuition. How you look at reality shapes it in ways that we’re only now beginning to fully understand. Ironically, the science of quantum physics is rapidly bringing the reality of magick to light.

I completely agree, I think the “magic” is the power of intention. And I have no doubt it is real.
Magic sounds cooler however.
Either way, we have power in our thoughts.
