I typically would agree with you on that thinking. However, I have college football teammates from the hoodest of hoods that have been able to pass calculus at a top tier US institution. Talking top 3 STEM school in the US and maybe world. I have seen them go from not being able to properly communicate to being able to write papers worthy of reading. It's truly sad what the Juice and CahMees have done to America.
It definitely took the hood guys more work and dedication because of their upbringing. They certainly were capable, it's their culture and society values that hold them back through demoralization. That being said, that does not absolve them of their personal responsibilities to do right.
