It's called politics. It's like in soccer where the Forward or Defender, kicks the ball BACKWARDS towards their own goalie. It's not dumb, it's part of how the game is played. Or in Football, where the quarterback spikes the ball to stop the clock without calling a timeout or running out of time; some people that dont know the rules might shit on the QB for wasting a down, like WTH?
