Teachers unions infuriate me. The entire justification for a union it that workers can have leverage against employers who "take advantage" of them. Fuck you! What leverage do the tax payers have? I'm forced to pay for this shit no matter how big a pack of fucking losers they are. If I tax strike, I get threatened with jail or having my house seized.
Of course the truth is that a union is just a cartel in the labor market. For any cartel to sustain itself, it needs to have a high barrier to entry. That's why things like an airplane pilot union make a lot of sense, in fact you would want pilots to have a place to take grievances. But the teachers unions know they are shit, and can't sustain itself on its own, so run to the government to impose all sorts of labor regulations to lock them in. They are just shit in every sense of the word.
