They live under totally control. We live as slaves, we even have to give away our earnings to foreign governments. Our minds are so fucked up by our government we don't know what's even real. Half or more of our population here believe some dude in the government is giving them secret messages and think that's totally normal. There is a major problem here that voting won't fix. I don't think there is a political solution. People don't even understand what happened in WW2, they believe the propaganda. We have a certain group of people that want us destroyed and have installed a network of legal protections.
