Flynn told Pence something, Pence relayed it to the media, and they immediately went crazy calling Pence a liar. The president either had to let Pence swing in the wind or do what he did. It was a bad situation but he made the call. Clearly Flynn understands to this day why POTUS made that call.
Yep. Losing Flynn was a huge sacrifice. But big picture, Trump made the best of a bad situation. He also learned not to get painted into a corner by the fake news media.
Or... being aware of the deep state plans to “get Trump” and patriots like Admiral Rogers and General Flynn having substantial evidence of criminal wrongdoing, Flynn was bait to ensnare them in their own trap.
Flynn was in the administration during the transition and got caught up in a scheme by Obama and Comey to entrap him into a lie, which they ultimately charged him with. Flynn, having lost track due to multiple interviews, told Mike Pence something that the Washington Post refuted with a classified transcript. Trump asked for Flynn's resignation to show that he had Pence's back.
The Obama, admin, the justice department, and the press were gunning for Flynn, but the president pulled the trigger to back up his VP. It was a stand-up move on his part, IMO.
