So through my childhood leading into my adult life, all you heard from public school teachers and liberal relatives was how bad it was to be in the united states, and how the scandinavian countries have it so much better, and its utopia never mind the fact the only reason they're able to do that is because of a higher tax rate, outsourcing their military, bringing in a shit ton of money from oil, as well as having a higher rating on the economic freedom index, and above all else, having a homogenous nation (Not so much anymore) as well as a lower population.
But thats besides the point, I've had the good fortune to speak to immigrants who joined the army to become citizens, guys from Venezuela, Guatamala, Germany, the UK.
And they all say how much they love it versus the countries they came from. Simply because while our own citizens bitch about how 'terrible it is to live in the oppressive US' they're really ignorant of how it is in the rest of the world.
Many of those countries they hold up as paragons of virtue usually have their downsides. For example, I read somewhere that the scandinavian countries don't have a minimum wage and some employers actually pay you based on how much work you put in, so you can't be a lazy piece of shit and get by getting paid the same as the guy who works his ass off.
So most of the 'Fight for 15' people would hate it in those countries.
Its safe to say 'Don't bitch about the United States until you've been outside of the united states.'
I've had a really good life in the United States, and I'm really glad from an early age I had a family that loved this country. Dads a former Air force captain and former police officer, so I had a good role model there.
So many people have been raised brainwashed to hate their own country, that they don't even realize that they're part of the problem.
I had a terrible childhood. Broken home. Mother was a drug addict, arrested for prostitution later in life. I’m In my early 40’s now,the father of 5, own 3 houses (trying to buy more), own a business, and I’m married to an immigrant with an equally difficult childhood. In America you get the opportunity to make your own choices and build your own life. I’ve traveled to Russia, Mexico, and the Caribbean so far. I have mostly immigrants that work for me. No other country has the opportunity for so much upward mobility if you work for it.
Living the American dream, pede!
I work in a career which I enjoy while doing some stuff on the side as a hobby that may someday become profitable. I don't look at my boss with envy because I'm content with what I have, and I know they used their talent and worked their ass off for what they had.
I don't know how good I have it, but I thank God for it regularly all the same and also tithe to organizations that help give people a chance to better their situation if they're willing to work for it.
Only people who get it are those in the military or those who have traveled to actual shit holes which is roughly 1% of the US population. Everyone else can't comprehend how shitty the rest of the world is to include our own poor and homeless which are actually living like phucking royalty compared to the rest of the world. Our homeless get free food, nice tents, shelters, phones, money. That's a better situation than upper middle class in a lot of countries. Our homeless can even shit in the street and taxpayers will clean it up no problem.
I believe it was Steven Crowder who also pointed out: those countries don't have to spend as much on medical developments or military. They all let the US make advancements and expect to be protected by our massive military strength. Lots left over for social programs.
Because we had it too good. So good people literally figure out ways to make 1st world problems.
