Henry the 8th was a bad dude.

When he wasn't allowed to remarry for like the tenth time, he responded by starting war on The Church, first by interfering in the ceremonies but when that didn't work he progressed to crueler and crueler methods (including torture.)

Around 1536, the people had had enough and marches of 40 to 50,000 men began coming for the king.  But when the Duke of Norfolk issued these men a pardon and promised that Parliament would discuss their grievances, they dispersed and went back home.

The promises were not kept.  Instead, in the weeks following their dispersal, the leaders of the men were found one by one and killed one by one.  The king proceeded forward with even more power.

In this month of January, and all through the new year, expect the ruling class (including career Republicans) to make a lot of promises and assurances that things will change "soon" if we would just back off a little.  Do not fall for these false promises.

If we stop pushing for even one day, they will come for us.  We won, Trump won in a landslide.  Until that is fully recognized and accepted, and we have had all the accompanying awards of victory - then we are not yet safe.  They will start with our leaders and work their way down.

Happy new year everyone
