So a small pump is pumping virus-laden air from outside INTO her suit? So what is the point of the suit?

The air pressure inside that suit is slightly higher than the outside air pressure (the bags would not be inflated otherwise) meaning any airborne virus is being forced into her lungs even harder than if she was just breathing normal-pressure air.
