I have very dear friends who couldn't have kids. When the wife became an aunt a few years ago, she assigned one of their 4 bedrooms to the niece, painted it pink and stocked it with toys and clothes for when she visits every couple months. They pay for her daycare and have set up a college fund.
They are not religious people at all, but they can't fathom "abortion rights".

Where I live, if you want to be able to afford to raise a family comfortably, you need to make 200k between the wife and husband, and if the wife works, which is a big deterrent in the first place to having a child, then you have to count on other people to raise your child which is either risky (commies) or expensive or both.
So abortion is really a consolation prize for not being able to responsibly raw dog, which everyone wants to do. It's indulgence it's like having your cake and eating it too.
