This is a very big deal. For example, we had twins a couple of years ago. We were given an estimate of our responsibility for our OB only. I only knew my cost to pay him if it were a vbirth or c-section. I ended up with a vagi section (1st baby natural, second had complications and they performed an emergency c-section).
We received a whopping $5000 bill from the anesthesiologist because they were out of network. We were beyond pissed. Our OB and hospital were in network but no one told us the anesthesiologist is out of network. They actually don’t even tell you who it is beforehand.
Then we received a million other bills from random docs that checked on me and babies. We were only there 3 nights with no other complications. Our whole healthcare system’s billing and costs are ridiculous.

the medical system is a giant scam, and every GOP who defended the status quo during the Obamacare debates deserves immense shame.
The ACA and single payer are not the answers, but that doesn't mean the current system isn't deeply broken and wildly corrupt.
