After an illegal immigrant is discharged from the hospital- we pay even more money for medications, short-term rehab, nursing home, or skilled nursing facilities- and several follow-up appointments with specialists post-discharge. We are paying for all of this- which is why healthcare costs are skyrocketing for American citizens. Couldn't we just contact ICE and give the patient discharge planning instructions and medication lists and prescriptions in Spanish with instructions to follow up with their family doctor in Mexico, after taking care of their acute issues in the hospital?
