I just start a thread every day at 7 PST. I don't really have social media or anything so this is my go-to place. Figure if I start having a consistent time people will eventually follow and we can have a pub-style discussion every night. Sometimes I just go into random threads but I wanted this to be more open ended.
I like the idea of having a "set" time to do something, it gives me something to look forward to in the day. Once there is a decent amount of people who come in regularly, I think we could have some awesome discussions that stem beyond what you find in a normal TDW thread.
Totally understand. My family is split politically so I can't engage with them. I get tired of everything in the world being so negative. Public discussion and news went from a mix of positive and negative to being overwhelming negative over the Obama years. Then MSM worsened it with Trump -- "everything sucks!!" Now with corona and recent politics people just continually feed on it. It's so frustrating. What happened to people getting together to just be in each others company, have jokes, and enjoy life. Oh yeah... I forgot we can't tell jokes anymore because it offends x small segment of society, which the actual members of don't care, but are just being virtue signal protected by a bunch of loudmouth white liberals.
Everything you just said is spot on. I think the best word to describe things are stale and joyless. I mostly don’t talk politics with people. I have great friends with whom I disagree with, but they’re mostly moderate and still have a sense of humor. I’ve seen people where I work get fired for Facebook posts that are, on their face, just a stupid joke. Everyone wants to be a savior and avoid being the next target. Stand up comedians are forced to throw in jokes about Trump, but no one dares to make a joke about Obama or Joe Biden. It’s so blatantly obvious that people live in fear of each other and that’s not living. They magnified natural divides instead of talking about our common interests. They’ve told us the divides make us stronger, but do everything in their power to use them to put walls between people.

Honestly, I think there’s a lot of dooming. I took a break to connect with family. Then, the family dooms, too. I’m looking for that high energy.
