Profoundly incorrect. While most people went along with low voltages, there was a specific group who refused, the test had increasing levels of authoritative figures coming in and trying to rationalize the project to them..
The final test was a man with a lab coat and a clipboard saying "you don't have a choice you have to turn the voltage up"
EVERY SINGLE test subject who objected to the point of the final layer of straight up being ordered REFUSED to comply and told the lab coat guy to pound sand.
It actually proved the opposite of what most people say.
Oddly enough, the experiment actually showed that people were willing to do things for science, not authority. Guess what we're witnessing now? Idiots doing it "for the science". People wearing masks alone in the car aren't doing it because of authority but because they believe "it's for the science". The experiment was technically right but they pulled the wrong conclusions.
This quote sums it up best;
“It’s not that people are blind to the consequences of what they’re doing and simply do what they are told. Instead, they are aware of what they are doing but believe that this is justified because it is helping to advance a worthy cause. And that’s a very, very different story,”
I suggest anyone interested in learning more look up Haslam and Reicher who researched the experiment and even redid it (to the extent that is allowed today).
This is facsinating. So we have many docile Americans, what’s in it for the CDC? All it takes for this nightmare to all go away is honesty from them: “Masks don’t work like we thought they would. Get/be healthy and exercise, and if you’re sick stay home. And if you’re so inclined; get the vaccine. Go back to living.”
That is so true.
