My opinion on the matter is that for a healthy, successful society you need a healthy support for the family unit.
However! There is certainly room for people who do not, for whatever reason, fit into that structure. But even those people benefit,either by being raised in a two parent home or by society being stable.

I'll say this: I'd rather have two dads than one dad and a dead beat, drug addicted welfare queen of a mother (epidemic of women like this).
