I do agree but also wonder what to do on the 6th; easier said than done to get weapons there. I know no one's going to suggest illegal activity on here but the fact that most pedes are law abiding does mean that most will be relatively unarmed. And even with a willingness to break the law, if going through an airport or any other security checkpoint, it will be very difficult to pull off. Maybe many will have a blunt force non-weapon that can be used as one, but...

Those protests were against China passing a law to let itself extradite politically inconvenient Hong Kongers back to the mainland to stand trial.
Even though Britain handed Hong Kong over to China in 1999 there was a written agreement that Hong Kong would have a certain degree of autonomy until 2049.
By passing that law, China broke its agreement. That's why Hong Kongers are pissed and protesting.
But they don't have guns and the CCP doesn't listen peaceful protests.
I think they passed the law anyway, cracked a few protestor heads, gave a few protestors long jail sentences on trumped up charges and started extraditing high profile anti-CCP Hong Kongers anyway.

The only thing that stopped HKers from gaining their freedom (even if temporarily), was their lack of arms. Simple as that. The HK police were armed with at most revolvers. They could have easily been overwhelmed. They didn't try because they don't have a warrior culture. Their culture is soft and always has been.

Rather, it has been constantly invaded, or paying off would-be invaders. That's the history of their people. They were never strong, they were only ever wealthy and too difficult to control for outsiders to bother for very long. These days their culture is communism, and that has produced an absurdly weak society. For Hong Kongers it's almost as bad: they were given their wealth and freedom by the Brits and never had to work for it. They got to enjoy the fruits of empire without having to build anything themselves. So when the CCP comes in to take it from them, they have no notion of how to fight for what they have and since they can't know the value of it they'll never be willing to die for it (with very few exceptions). That's why they are soft.

It made everyone super aware of what was going on around them, how to avoid being trapped and where help was needed.
But what really kept us together was our common goals. At the end of the day, people were constantly communicating with everyone around them - especially in the more localised conflicts like in Yuen Long.
