Those are completely separate issues. Smith-Mundt allows media companies like CNN and Fox News to blatantly lie, which they take full advantage of.

230 allows tech platforms not to be held liable for what their users do on their platforms. The only thing is, fb and twitter aren't even protected under section 230, since they clearly act as publishers anyway. So section 230 doesn't need to be repealed, it just needs to be enforced properly.
