Yeah Gonna call out that your use of exegetical thinking may be clouding your judgment. If we propose that it is 1 Sam 2:39 we can imply that there were two parties vying for power over the kingdom, Saul's Kingdom vs. David's Kingdom. The Pence thing is a stretch in this context. Or you can look at 2 Sam 23:9 where it talks of Eleazar Who didn't know when to quit and fought till his hand stuck to the sword. The reason why Pence basically said leave me alone is that there is no reason for a lawsuit as those are already his powers as VP.
Your rebuttal is a good one and I appreciate it, All of those passages in each book lean towards a negative connotation as we all know who became the King of Israel, David. Saul undermined David in 1 Samuel, 2nd Samuel’s passage can be applied to Pence as well, not knowing when to resign. However given the current predicament I would put my money on the reference of 1 Samuel given the battle of the Kingdom.
