The little bit I have garnered is that Paul actually is not on board with this. I saw in an interview somewhere that he said he doesn't believe in objecting to electors certified by states. That it is the State's respective duties to ensure that accurate certifications are provided.
BIG OOF by Rand Paul in my opinion if true and I am typically a huge Rand Paul supporter. His ideology is blinding him to the fact that sometimes some states cannot be trusted and in those cases congress is supposed to act as a check and balance of sorts.
This makes a lot of sense. Generally, it's a good idea to leave final authority in the hands of the States, but we're in a situation where such a principle could end up destroying the very thing it's meant to protect.
There's no way Rand Paul isn't on board with this. I wonder what the story is, why he's not part of the statement?
